Weekly Rewind
The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

My Life and Blog
Life: So I decided to join a gym. As much as I would love to pretend that I’m the type of gal that will exercise at home…I’m just not. I need the classes and trainer and machines. After mostly sitting on my ass since mid-March, my butt is sore af after spending time on the treadmill on Thursday. The one I joined is very clean. Masks are required when entering/leaving and several of the machines are closed to make sure nobody is right next to you. I was a bit worried but ended up feeling really comfortable. I still haven’t done any writing, but I’m feeling better about life as I’ve taken steps to hit one of my goals for the summer (to workout and work on my novel).
Blog and reading: I managed to post a couple of times this week. I posted my normal look at new books, movies, and streaming on Tuesday: What I’m Excited For and on Wednesday I posted a WoW. I also had a much better reading week. I started B*Witch which comes out in a couple of weeks, and finally picked up a couple of past-due ARCs: The Magpie Murders (after eyeing up the sequel — I have both the ARC and the PB versions of TMM) and Privilege that follows three women at a university in NC. I loved the author’s When You Read This.
What I’m Watching: Mr. Flix and I have continued bingeing Bosch, which we both like even though we occasionally make fun of how badly it’s written. We are currently on the fourth season.
New books: I have a handful of pretties that I’m excited to share with you this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all well and having fabulous weekends!
For Review
The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson
This witch-y novel looks absolutely amazing — hyped as The Handmaid’s Tale meets Salem. I’m super excited.
They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman
A murder mystery at a prep school. No matter how many of these I read, those buzzwords are my crack.
A romance between the son of a famous punk-rocker who runs a podcast with his brother and a female music blogger. This looks super cute.
Trouble the Saints by Alaya Dawn Johnson
Per GR: “The dangerous magic of The Night Circus meets the powerful historical exploration of The Underground Railroad in this timely and unsettling novel, set against the darkly glamorous backdrop of New York City at the dawn of WWII.” This sounds amazing, and I love that cover.
This looks like a fun adult novel about a pair of friends who have long fostered their love of chamber music.
Mysterious Messenger by Gilbert Ford
This MG novel about a girl with real psychic abilities who helps her con-man mom scam rich people.
Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!
I’ve looked at More Than Maybe several times but am still on the fence about it. I hope it’s a hit for you!

Good luck with working out! I used to belong to a gym, but it was too expensive, so now I do YouTube yoga classes and run 3 times a week. Staying motivated is difficult, though.

Hey, I am stopping by from Kimberley’s Sunday Post 🖐 Glad to hear your goal to work out has started well – I am afraid I am the opposite and really don’t like gyms, but I have managed to keep fit with jogging and yoga during lockdown. Good luck with your other goal to write your novel. Take care and happy reading this coming week. 😃

I love the covers of The Year of the Witching and The Mysterious Messenger. I hope you enjoy your new books. I need to get back on track with my workout routine too. I know when I do that I’m going to be so sore. Maybe that’s why I keep putting it off?

Good for you for taking that extra step! I tend to get pretty lazy with my at-home workouts without some extra motivation!
I hope you enjoy The Year of the Witching! It sounds fantastic!

Good for you signing up at a gym! I have just started working out again, too, but I do it at home. I’m too lazy to actually go to a gym, and we have a bit of equipment in the basement, so I have everything I need here.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.
