Weekly Rewind 8.10.19

Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what’s going on in my life, so I decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I’ve received. Five years later, Weekly Rewind continues to be about what’s going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I’ve added to my shelves. This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Life and Blog

Life: I’m typing this up on Saturday afternoon rather than my normal Friday night because I’m just not feeling good and couldn’t talk myself into doing it. I’ve had some pretty serious back problems for years, and when it gets really bad it is accompanied by head and stomach aches. I’m still not feeling great today but am a bit better. Well, I’m done to my last week of summer break. I’ll be doing some traveling for the last week, which I’m excited about. It’s been a nice, although fairly unproductive, break.

Blog and reading: I killed it on the blog again this week. On Tuesday I posted my regular look at upcoming book and movie releases: What I’m Excited For, Wednesday a: WoW, Thursday an early arc review for: Start Here, and Friday a season one review for Euphoria. I am 20 pages away from finishing Please Send Help. This week I finished Start Here and The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. I’m debating what I’m going to pick up next.

What I’m watching: We finished watching the second season of Barry and are really enjoying the show. Obviously I finished watching Euphoria (loved so much). I’m excited for Mindhunter’s return this week but am definitely open to some suggestions. We have HBO, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. Basically we just love spending all our money on streaming services.

New books: Just a couple of lovelies to share this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fabulous weekends!

For Review

The Babysitter Coven by Kate Williams

The nostalgia level for two of my favorite series growing up (The Babysitters Club and The Secret Circle) are high. Plus that cover is one of my favorite of the year.

Suggested Reading by Dave Connis

A bookworm fights back when her school bans some classic and meaningful texts. I’m excited for this one.

What I snagged from the library

The Floating Feldmans

A family drama set on a cruise ship. This looks fun.

The Long Shot

I think this might be how I spend part of this afternoon.

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. Oh no- hope you’re feeling better. And it’s always a bummer when summer break or vacations ends. Hope you have a great last week.

Mindhunter is a show I’ve thought about a few times. I should try it.

    Have a great week!

  4. Both of your new books sound good, I love the cover for The Babysitters Coven too. I haven’t watched Euphoria yet, I’m just about finished binging on Enterprise.

Have a great reading week, and I hope you feel better soon.

  5. I hope you start to feel better! I love the cover and the sound of The Babysitter’s Coven! I have an audible credit so I’m going to go check and see if I can pre-order it. I totally understand, we have all these streaming services now that we cut the cable. I still have trouble trying to find something to watch.

  6. I hope you’re back is feeling better. I can empathize since I have back issues, too, with stomach issues when it’s especially bad. I hope you enjoy your travel before school begins again. Suggested Reading sounds good! I’m on my way to find out more about it.

I hope you have a great week!
