What I’m Excited For: Book and Movie Releases 8.13.19

I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater each week. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.

Book Releases

The Swallows by Lisa Lutz

A new teacher at a New England prep school accidently starts a gender war with deadly consequences. This sounds way too much like the novel I’m trying to write (without the death). Lol. So right up my alley.

Start Here by Trish Doller

Two friends go on a sailing trip and try to deal with their grief of losing their best friend. See my early arc review: here

Campusland by Scott Johnston

A tenured professor, a freshman “it” girl, and a seventh-year senior collide in this novel set at a fictional ivy college.

We Are the Ghosts by Vicky Skinner

This book about a roadtrip after a sibling death has been donnnnnne, but I really like this cover and am curious.

Avengers: Endgame

I just couldn’t drag myself to the theater for this one, but I am excited to watch it.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette?

I really enjoyed this book when I read it last year and am excited to see Blanchett in the main role.

That’s what I’m excited for this week. Are you looking forward to any of these books or films?

  1. I thought Lisa Lutz sounded familiar when I saw that name. I had to look her up but she wrote The Passenger, which I read a few years ago. Her new one sounds good.
