Weekly Rewind 1.26.19

Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what’s going on in my life, so I decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I’ve received. Five years later, The Weekly Rewind continues to be about what’s going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I’ve added to my shelves. This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

My Life and Blog

Life: For real, you guys, why is January so flipping long? I’m so ready for this month to be over. I’m finally reasonably caught up with grading (there are a couple of very small assignments I need to get to), so I’m feeling so much better about life in that aspect. It is cold and snowy here, but not cold and snowy enough to stop life…which is good and bad.

Blog and reading: This week I posted about this week’s book and movie releases in my weekly post: What I’m Excited For: Week of 1.22.19 and also a WoW. I kind of put The Dead Queen’s Club in order to read When You Read This (which I am loving). I’m almost done with both and am making every effort to finish both and review DQC before its Tuesday’s release date.

What I’m watching: I finally got around to watching the first episode of Deadly Class a couple of days ago (but still haven’t gotten to the second episode). I really enjoyed it! I haven’t read the graphic novel that it is based one, but I’m always just such a fan of specialized boarding school stories. I didn’t get to any movies this week.

New books: I have some titles I’m excited to share this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fabulous weekends!

For Review

The Black Coats by Colleen Oakes

A secret club of women/girls who go after the men/boys who hurt others. This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year.

The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

A group of college friends get snowed in at a hunting cabin. Death happens. I’m super excited for this one as well.

The Pyschology of Time Travel by Kate Mascarenhas

Four female scientists in the late 1960s build the first time travel machine. I’m not sure how to say the rest of the premise concisely, but this sounds amazing.

The Sisterhood by A.J. Grainger

So I totally snagged this because I figured it was a witchy book (which I still think is fair based on that cover and title), but reading the synopsis just now (cough) apparently it is about a missing sister and a girl found on the side of road that sounds like she has escaped a cult.

What I snagged from the library

Movie Edition

Simple Favor

Yay!!! (So I actually snagged the book, too, because I seriously meant to read the book first…I’m going to be doing some reading this weekend).

The Hate U Give

Double Yay!!!

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. It’s cold and snowy here too- ugh. Not a fan. And deadly Class- I don’t know that one, but with a title like that, and it’s boarding school- that sounds fun. 🙂

Love the sound of The Psychology of Time Travel.

  2. January is way too long! It better end soon (but not looking forward to February either :p ) I was ill this week so I haven’t gotten around to grading papers yet, but hope to get to it soon.
I’m glad you enjoyed Deadly Class, I just got the first volume this week, I’m going to try and read it before watching the show.

I loved The Hate U Give! I hope you’ll enjoy all the books you got!

    Have a wonderful week!

  3. I want to read The Hunting Party as well as The Sisterhood. We finished watching Season 2 of The Punisher this weekend. I really liked it but know it won’t get renewed since Netflix is killing all my Marvel faves. I am almost done reading The Hate U Give and then I want to watch the movie. Hope you have a great week!

  4. We had snow in December but even though it was cold last week I prefer the 60sF or 18-21C we are having for highs this upcoming week. I like more light in my day and that is why January is too long. I have more energy when there are more hours of daylight. Have a great week! Anne – Books of My Heart
