What I’m Excited For: New Releases for Reading and Viewing Week of 1.26.21

I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.

Book Releases

The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe

This follows the daughter of a con artist who gets taken hostage during a bank robbery. This has been optioned for a film by Netflix with Millie Bobby Brown tapped to star and Jason Bateman to produce. Read the Variety article here if you’re so inclined.

If I Disappear by Eliza Jane Brazier

Man, that cover. I just love it so much. This is the first of two novels this week that focus on a true crime podcast. This on follows a young woman who becomes obsessed with finding the host of her favorite podcaster after she goes missing.

A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes

A retelling of The Trojan War from the point of view of several women. “From the Trojan women whose fates now lie in the hands of the Greeks, to the Amazon princess who fought Achilles on their behalf, to Penelope awaiting the return of Odysseus, to the three goddesses whose feud started it all, these are the stories of the women whose lives, loves, and rivalries were forever altered by this long and tragic war.” I’m SO here for this book.

Time Travel for Love and Profit by Sarah Lariviere

“When Nephele has a terrible freshman year, she does the only logical thing for a math prodigy like herself: she invents a time travel app so she can go back and do it again (and again, and again) in this funny love story, Groundhog Day for the iPhone generation.” How cute does this sound?

Movie Releases

The Little Things

A washed up detective consults on a case that is eerily similar to a case he had investigated years before. This cast! (Theaters and HBO Max/1.29)

That’s what I’m excited for this week. Anything you’re looking forward to?
