Weekly Rewind: 1.9.21

Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Life and Blog

Life: This week was seriously insane. I, like many of you I’m sure, spent all of Wednesday afternoon glued to my phone and tv. The 20th can not come soon enough.

I go back into the ole brick-and-mortar on Monday. It was so nice being fully remote for a few weeks, but I do hate teaching via Zoom — so I’m feeling mostly okay about it. I’ll still be teaching hybrid classes since some of my students will be staying remote.

Blog and reading: This week I got my act together and shared some new releases in both books and streaming: What I’m Excited For. I’m currently reading A Good Girls Guide to Murder (finally – I’ve owned it forever) and have started a handful of other books that haven’t quite caught my attention yet.

What I’m watching: The news.

New books: I have a handful of pretties to share this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fabulous, safe, and healthy weekends!

For Review

The Project by Courtney Summer

This book about a girl who has been trying to prove that a “unity” group is actually a cult for years gets mixed up with its leader. I’ve been looking forward to this one.

This is Not the Jess Show by Anna Carey

Black Mirror meets My So-Called Life: what a description!

Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano

A struggling suspense author gets wrapped up in a real-life murder mystery.

Hot British Boyfriend by Kristy Boyce

After a girl gets publicly rejected by her crush, she decides to join her school’s study abroad program.

Game Changer by Neal Shusterman

After getting hit on the football field, a teen finds himself floating from world to world, none of which are his own. I love Neal Shusterman and I love multi-verse novels, so I’m excited for this one.

As Far As You’ll Take Me by Phil Stamper

A young gay teen goes to Europe to escape his judgmental parents and start a new life.

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. I have been completely pre-occupied with the news as well. I don’t know how you guys are teaching through Zoom. I give you so much credit! All of those books are new to me…I will have to check them out! I hope you have a great week!

  2. Oh my gosh what a week! Craziness. “The 20th can not come soon enough.” Amen to that!

The Project looks like it’s going to be really good, I’m looking forward to that one!

  3. I’ve heard good things about This Is Not the Jess Show and grabbed it as well. I also am really interested in The Project. I hope you’re enjoying A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. It’s one of my favorite YA mysteries.
