Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Life and Blog

Life: Not to be that person, but can you believe next week is Halloween? Like, it’s insane, right? I don’t have a whole lot going on. I’m still going into the school with most of my students in front of me and a handful online concurrently. The weather was absolutely beautiful these last few days (like 80 degrees today although it’s supposed to drop back down starting tomorrow). It was so nice to be able to sit outside during lunch today with my favorite co-workers and enjoy the beautiful changing trees and weather. I’m mostly caught up on both grading and planning for the upcoming week, so I’m looking forward to a weekend full of naps and reading.

Blog and reading: I posted  my normal look at a new book and streaming releases: What I’m Excited For. I’m still knee deep in Plain Bad Heroines (I’m just not getting a whole lot of reading done throughout the work week) and am enjoying it.

What I’m watching: We’ve finished watching the second season two of Fargo. We plan on starting the third season this weekend.

New books: I have a small handful of pretties to share. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having healthy and fabulous weekends! (Vote early if you can!)

For Review

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

A Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai. I mean.

Alright, Alright, Alright by Melissa Maerz

Dazed and Confused is easily my favorite movie. I’m excited to dive into the definitive oral history.

Pretending by Holly Bourne

After getting her heartbroken again and again, a woman decides to become the manic-pixie-dream-girl-next-door that she believes men really want. It looks fun.

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. I can’t believe it’s almost Halloween. and it’s kind of a bummer it’s gonna be so downbeat with the pandemic and all, but what can you do? Glad you’ve had some nice weather! It’s been 50’s-ish and rainy here on and off all week, but oddly that feels right for late October. Still, I wouldn’t mind a little warmth. 🙂

Be well and have a super week !

  2. I hadn’t thought about it, already Halloween ! It’s not autumny enough outside, just raining, after a few days with our windows open to the sun and moderate warmth… I heard some good things about Holly Bourne and her Spinsters club. Have a great week 😉

  3. I’ve seen These Violent Delights and gosh it’s a nice cover. The story also intrigues me a lot!

We are also still having physical classes and online classes at the same time. So tiresome. But it works and the students are doing good – so goals achieved.

Hope you will have a good week and get some reading done!

Here’s my The Sunday Post #16

  4. I’m constantly amazed at how far into the year we are… Feels like this year has lasted a million but also passed in the blink of an eye!
