Weekly Rewind
The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.
This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Life and Blog
Life: It is 8PM on Friday night and I can hear my bed calling my name. One of the best things about Friday nights is I can go to bed as early as I want and it doesn’t matter if I wake up at 4 in the morning.
Blog and reading: I posted my regular look at new book, movie, and streaming releases: What I’m Excited For. I’m not getting a whole lot of reading done during the week right now, but I’ve been enjoying Hyperbole and a Half (for the fifth time) while I wait for her second book to come in for me. I started Plain Bad Heroines last night but only got a few pages in.
What I’m watching: Legit nothing. Help me choose a new show!
New books: I have a handful of pretties to share this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fabulous, healthy weekends!
For Review
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth
I’m always fascinated by stories within stories. To try to sum this up quickly, this is about a death of two girls at a boarding school in the early 1900s, the breakout book about the queer, cursed history of the school, AND the horror film that book inspires. ANNNND it’s illustrated! Super into it.
Shit, Actually: The Definitive, 100% Objective Guide to Modern Cinema by Lindy West
It’s almost silly how much I love books full of movie reviews. Love them.
Foreshadow: Stories to Celebrate the Magic of Reading and Writing YA
This compilation sounds unique. Not only is it a collection of short stories by young adult authors, the stories are accompanied by essays about writing for YA.
You Were Never Here by Kathleen Peacock
A YA thriller about a girl whose friend goes missing (the synopsis of about a million YA thrillers).
Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!
Oooh, Plain Bad Heroines sounds amazing! I see queer and horror and I instantly want to read. I just started watching this tv show called Julie and The Phantoms on Netflix which has the feel of a better Disney Channel Musical, but with more BIPOC rep and queer rep. So if you’re In the mood for a paranormal themed musical comedy, I highly recommend it.

I was thinking about the Lincoln Rhyme series but then heard it wasn’t renewed. Do you like it?

I did, and even if it’s not renewed the season was complete in itself so I’m too bothered

I’m not currently working (we’re traveling with my husband’s job), but when I was, I loved Friday nights for the exact opposite reason–I could stay awake reading until 4 am and it wouldn’t matter if I slept until noon the next day!
I’m not sure exactly what you like to watch but we’re currently excited to watch the last season of The Good Place and the new movie, Enola Holmes, on Netflix.
Enjoy your week!
