What I’m Excited For: Book, Movie, and Streaming (oh my!) Releases Week of 9.15.20

I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.

Book Releases

Troubled Blood by Robert Galbraith

I’m a fan of this series and have been looking forward to this one (although I’m fairly over the will-they-won’t-they between Strike and Robin).

These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever

Billed as The Secret History meets Call Me By Your Name, this follows two college-aged men whose mutual obsession ends in violence. I’m excited for this one.

Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson

An inspiring singer believes she’s on the brink of stardom when an established artist starts paying attention to her, but then she wakes up one morning and he is dead — and she has blood on her hands. This sounds awesome.

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

Society of mages. Flying demons. A dude named “Merlin.” Fun, fun, fun.

More Than a Woman by Caitlin Moran

A new collection of essays by the famous feminist.

Who Gets In and Why by Jeffery Selingo

I occasionally snag these types of nonfiction books. I find the subject of college admissions fascinating, and the topic plays a part in my current WIP.

At Home Releases

A successful author finds herself stuck as a slave in the antebellum south. I’m excited for this one.

Streaming Releases

The Devil All the Time

This definitely doesn’t look like a fun movie, but I can’t resist Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland (Movie/9.16/Netflix)

A prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest about Nurse Ratched. I love Sarah Paulson. (Series/9.18/Netflix)

The second season of a show that has two adult women playing middle school students amongst actual kids. I’ve only watched a couple of episodes of this show, but it’s pretty funny. (Series/9.18/Hulu)

That’s what I’m excited for this week. Are you looking forward to any of these books, films, or shows?

  1. Yassssssss! I am excited for all three of those shows and I just finished reading The Devil All the Time to prepare for the Rob Pattinson movie. That’s today, right??? I’ll watch it tonight. And I, too, love Sarah P.

  2. I recently saw a trailer for Antebellum and it looks interesting! I’m looking forward to that one.

The Devil All the Time has one hell of a cast, huh? Hopefully it lives up to that! I just finished Ratched the other day, I enjoyed it (until the end) lol. Hope you enjoy!
