What I’m Excited For: Book, Streaming, and Movie Releases Week of 5.19.20

I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.

Book Releases

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

This prequel to The Hunger Games follows 18 year-old Snow as he embraces his role as mentor to a tribute. I’m pretty excited for this.

Beach Read by Emily Henry

Two writers plagued by writer’s block (a man who writes literary fiction and a woman who writes romance) decide to trade genres. I’ve heard great things for this rom-com and am excited to start it.

Just a Boy and a Girl in a Little Canoe by Sarah Mlynowski

So I have to admit that I just saw this cover and Sarah Mlynowski (an author I’ve loved since her Red Dress Ink chick lit days 20 years ago), which means I didn’t realize this was a sequel. I actually own the first book I See London, I See France, so I guess that’s my next book.

The Wife Stalker by Live Constantine

A new woman moves into a tony beach side town and opens a wellness center. She focuses her attention on a married man, causing his wife to dig into her past. A thriller that sounds fairly typical, but I’ve been turning to easy thrillers lately.

This Coven Won’t Break by Isabel Sterling

The second book in a series that started with These Witches Won’t Burn.

Happy & You Know It by Laura Hankin

After her former band shot to stardom without her, a young woman takes a job as a musician to a playgroup on Park Avenue.

DVD Releases

Emma

I don’t know if we really need yet another big screen version of Emma…but I don’t know if we don’t either. Also, Bill Nighy, which means something.

The Way Back

A man finds his way to redemption while coaching his alma mater’s basketball team.

Streaming Releases

aa

Homecoming Season 2

So I actually need to watch season 1 still, but I kind of love Janelle Monae.

That’s what I’m excited for this week. Are you looking forward to any of these books or films?
