I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.
This has two aspects that I almost always enjoy in novels: It takes place over the course of a single day and it juggles several POVs. I’ve read the first couple of chapters and am enjoying it so far.
The synopsis starts, “Once upon a time, a demon who desired earthly domination fathered an army of dark daughters to help him corrupt humanity . . .” So, I mean.
This is based on a popular play (although I’ve not heard of it) that follows the citizens of a small town vignette style.
A woman is out for vengeance after the death of her daughter on a playground. I read The Roanoke Girls by this author a few years back. It was gross, but readable.
This follows a queer girl who finds an outlet with a pen pal during the turbulent anti-gay fervor of the late 1970s.
I saw this over winter break in the theater…one of two movies I saw in the theater in 2019. I really liked it. I know a lot of people didn’t, but I thought it was nice wrap up of the last trilogy if nothing else.
On Apple TV. This follows a fourth grade girl digging into an old investigation of her father’s best friend who was kidnapped right in front of him. It looks really good.
That’s what I’m excited for this week. Are you looking forward to any of these books or films?
