What I’m Excited For: Book and Movie Releases Week of 12.3.19

I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater each week. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.

Book Releases

Reputation by Sara Shepard

A professor is found murdered after a hacker hacks the entire university’s emails. His wife and her sister try to figure out whodunit.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi

I still need to read the first book, but it’s pretty high on my list.

Just Watch Me by Jeff Lindsay

This is a heist caper. I have to admit that I loved the show Dexter in a way that I never really loved the books (it is one of the few exceptions, but the show is MUCH better). I’ve read the first few pages and it’s ok so far. I think it would be an alright audio read.

Dangerous Alliance by Jennieke Cohen

Set in the early 1800s this follows a fan of Jane Austen who is trying to sort out her own love life.

Meg & Jo by Virginia Kantra

A modern retelling of the much beloved Little Women. This is getting some pretty middling reviews, so I’m a bit weary.

Adorkable by Cookie O’gorman

So this book has apparently been around for a few years, but is now getting a print release. It looks like a fun and fluffy friends-to-more story, which is sometimes exactly what the doctor ordered.

DVD Releases

Ready or Not

A new bride joins her new husband and his eccentric family in a deadly game of hide-or-seek. Ok, this looks dumb as hell, but it actually got some descent reviews.

The Goldfinch

I’m STILL debating whether or not I should read this before watching the movie. It got pretty dismal reviews. People who’ve read it: Is it worth the heft?

Theater Releases

Nothing of note

That’s what I’m excited for this week. Are you looking forward to any of these books or films?
