Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

My Life and Blog

Life: This week brings us to the end of the first trimester. I have essays and projects up the wazoo to grade before spending all of next weekend finalizing grades and writing student comments. This year started slow for me, but now I can’t believe it is November. Like a lot of places, the weather here to a crazy dip on Halloween. Wednesday was gorgeous and sunny — by Thursday night the temp had dropped 40 degrees. Crazy.

Blog and reading: This week I got up my regular look at new book and movie releases: What I’m Excited For. I had a slow reading week, but I’m still reading and enjoying The Gifted School. I started a reread of Scythe in preparation of The Toll (the third and final book of the series) coming out on Tuesday.

What I’m watching: I watched the first episode of Mrs. Fletcher on Sunday. I read the book years ago and remember bits and pieces. I might actually want a reread. Tom Perrotta is heavily involved in the series, so I have no doubt it will stay true and Kathryn Hahn and Casey Wilson are always delightful.

I’m super excited for His Dark Materials premiering this Monday. It has a fantastic cast. HBO is certainly doing whatever it can to hold on to viewers after the end of GoT.

New books: Just a few pretties to share this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fantastic weekends!

For Review

Dead Girls Club by Damien Walters

In the early 90s a group of girls were part of a club called The Dead Girls Club — a group obsessed with ghost stories like the Red Woman. Then one of them gets killed. 30 years later, a necklace of hers shows up and somebody wants revenge. Doesn’t this sound fun?

What I bought

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

I’ve been hearing good things about this for ages and found a brand new copy at Goodwill yesterday for $2. I’m excited!

Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh

This was also a $2 snag. This is another book I’ve been wanting due to high praise. A successful Goodwill run.

What I snagged from the library

Black Canary by Meg Cabot

Cabot has gotten into the graphic novel game AND the DC Universe.

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. Oh yeah Halloween here was freezing and we even had snow- not enough to stick, more like rain/ snow haha. We didn’t get many kids though because of it.

The Dead Girls Club looks like fun!
