Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

My Life and Blog

Life: I feel like every post throughout the school year starts with how tired I am…but that’s usually because I type this up on Friday and by Friday I feel like I’m about to die. Lol. This was an extremely busy week, but also a pretty good one. My hockey team was in town on mid-week and Mr. Flix and I got on the glass seats, which was awesome. They lost in OT, but we had a great time and they eked out a point. I just finished my homework for an online course I’m taking (which is due tomorrow — I’m just as bad as my students) and while I plan on taking it somewhat easy this weekend, I have both tests AND essays to grade. Oof. Plus a sink full of dishes. Such is life.

Blog and reading: I got up my regular look at new book and movie releases on Tuesday called: What I’m Excited For. I’m still reading Fangirl, although I just didn’t much reading done this week. Thank God for audiobooks for my commute. This is my third time with this book and I’m really enjoying the audio version. I’m planning on starting The Gifted School this weekend after snagging it this afternoon.

What I’m watching: I’m not. I don’t think I watched a full episode of anything this week, let alone a full movie. Watchmen on Sunday, though and Castle Rock on Wednesday! So excited for both!

New books: Just a small handful of pretties this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fabulous weekends!

For Review

The Last Affair by Margot Hunt

An affair leads to murder. While this is a fairly trite storyline, I’m hoping for some fun twists and turns.

What I bought

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling and Jim Kay

I can’t believe I forgot to share this last week. I adore these illustrated editions of the beloved series. Just so gorgeous.

What I snagged from the library

The Gifted School by Bruce Holsinger

The opening of a new gifted school wreaks havoc on friends and neighbors. This sounds like my favorite kind of juicy, domestic fiction. I’m really excited to sink my teeth into this one.

Run, Hide, Fight Back by April Henry

Six teens band together when they find themselves trapped in a store at a shopping mall during an active shooter incident. I have to admit that while I don’t always love April Henry’s writing, I have a soft spot for her after meeting her a couple of years back. She sat at the table in the library I was working at during my planning when she was there to give a talk to my school.

Spiderman: Far From Home

So I still haven’t seen the last Avengers movie, which I know I should do before watching this…but I also know the (non)twist that I should make that a prerequisite and I frankly don’t feel like waiting, so.

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. Love the look of that Margot Hunt book. That tagline’s awesome too, I may have to steal that for my Tues Tagline feature haha. Good tags can be hard to find. 🙂

I love going to hockey games, so much more exciting being there.

    The Gifted School sounds great!
