What I’m Excited For: Book and Movie Releases Week of 8.20.19

I spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for upcoming releases in both books and movies. I’ve been wanting to create a new weekly post for Natflix&Books for awhile and decided this would be the perfect post for my movie and book blog. On Tuesdays I’ll be featuring not just what is being released into the world of books each week, but also the movies you can look forward to on both DVD and in the theater each week. (Although, to be fair, I’m going to focus on the releases that I’m personally looking forward to.) So without further ado, here’s what I’m excited for this week.

Book Releases

Fan the Fame by Anna Priemaza

The synopsis totes a Fangirl meets Moxie line, which has me interested at least. It follows three different teens around a gamer convention (from what I’m gathering based on the blurb).

Stolen Things by R.H. Herron

A police dispatcher’s worst nightmare comes true when her daughter is the one calling the emergency line. This looks like a pulpy thriller.

DVD Releases

Brightburn

While “evil Superman” might not be a wholly original premise, I’m still incredibly interested in this.

The Hustle

This didn’t do well at the box office or with critics, but it looks like a decent way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Theater Releases

Brittany Runs a Marathon

This looks funny and cute. Jillian Bell is a national treasure.

Ready or Not

A new bride joins her new husband and his eccentric family in a deadly game of hide-or-seek. Ok, this looks dumb as hell, but it is actually getting really good reviews. I’d never see this in theaters but will definitely snag it on DVD.

That’s what I’m excited for this week. Are you looking forward to any of these books or films?

  1. My husband and I recently saw a trailer for Ready or Not and both were like WTF? hahah But I secretly want to see it. I’ll probably wait for rental. Also, I’ve never heard of Brightburn! I’ll have to check it out.
