The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what’s going on in my life, so I decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I’ve received. Five years later, Weekly Rewind continues to be about what’s going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I’ve added to my shelves. My Life and Blog

Life: It’s weird how the 4th of July always feels like the middle of summer when I’ve only been on break for 3 weeks but have 6 to go. Mr. Flix and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on the 3rd, so we mostly just chilled out for the 4th. So I’m completely failing at Camp NaNoWriMo. Writer friends: Have any of you used Scrivener? I’ve heard some good things but am debating dropping the $45. I know the issue is that this novel (in my mind) has evolved into this epic story and I know that I will be disappointed the minute I type the first word. I keep convincing myself that I need to do more research, when really I just need to start writing. Ugh!

Blog and reading: I posted my normal look at new book and movie releases: What I’m Excited For. I finished my reread of The Year of Living Awkwardly (the second book in the Chloe Snow series) and have turned my attention to Notes From a Former Virgin (book 3) in between stalking news from the author to hear if there will be a book four. The first book was freshman year and etc, so it would only make sense to have a book four for her senior year.

What I’m watching: Stranger Things 3, y’all. I’m only watching one or two episodes at a time to try to stretch it out–so no spoilers! I’m enjoying it so far. We’ve also been watching Big Mouth, which is an animated show on Netflix following preteens in the midst of puberty–it’s funny. Also, I am LOVING Euphoria. I watched the first two episodes last weekend just in time to catch the third episode. SO GOOD!

A new teacher at a New England prep school accidently starts a gender war with deadly consequences. This sounds way too much like the novel I’m trying to write (without the death). Lol. So right up my alley.

Campusland by Scott Johnston

A tenured professor, a freshman “it” girl, and a seventh-year senior collide in this novel set at a fictional ivy college.

What I bought

Notes From a Former Virgin by Emma Chastain

I’ll stop yapping about this book soon, I promise, but if you like humorous YA stories with touches of real issues, this is the series for you. They are epistolary novels written like Chloe Snow’s diary and Chloe Snow is the closest thing to Jessica Darling and Ruby Oliver that the 2010s seen so far.
