Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what’s going on in my life, so I’ve decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I’ve received. The Weekly Rewind will be about what’s going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I’ve added to my shelves. This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer

My Life and Blog

Life: Not a whole lot going on. I love summers. I’ve mostly just been reading and hanging out with my husband. I don’t really have many friends left in PA after being gone for the last few years. It’s a bummer, but what do you do.

Blog and reading:WoW and an early arc review for I Hate Everyone But You. I pretty much read this book immediately after receiving it. Books told in emails and texts (or any epistolary format, really) is one of my weaknesses. I really enjoyed it. I’m currently reading Because You Love to Hate Me; Once and For All; Fragile Like Us; and TooFat, Too Slutty, Too Loud.

New Books: I have a healthy pile of books to share with you this week. So without further ado, I hope you’re all having fabulous weekends!

For Review

I Hate Everyone But You by Gabby Dunn and Allison Raskin

I think I got this on Monday, and I’ve already read and reviewed it. That might be normal for other bloggers, but it might be a first for me. I really enjoyed this. Link for my review above.

Lucky in Love by Kasie West

I’m going into this a bit warily. I kind of hate stories about lottery winners. I mean, I would LOVE to win the lottery, but lottery winner stories seem trite to me. Add that to my not-love with West’s last book, and I’m…tentatively excited for this one.

First We Were IV by Alexandra Sirowy

A secret society + murder. It’s like it was written for me.

16 Ways to Break a Heart by Lauren Strasnick

Told in texts, letters, and chats (yay!) a he said/she said of a break-up. I love the sound of this one.

Gallery of Unfinished Girls by Lauren Karcz

The middling reviews about this magical realism story that follows a teen with artist’s block has me a little worried, but I’ll still give it a shot.

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody

I don’t really know what this is about beyond the setting of a traveling circus-city…which is enough.

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware

A group of women who once went to a private boarding school together reconvene when they get a message from one saying she needs them. I haven’t read anything by this author yet, but I have heard great things.

The Wildling Sisters by Eve Chase

A story that follows sisters, two timelines, and a mystery sound right up my alley.

What I snagged from the library

Because You Love to Hate Me by various authors

I’ve been dyyyying to get my hands on this one. I was so excited when it came in for me.

Movie:
Beauty and the Beast

Finally!!

Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. Because You Love To Hate Me looks so good- I mean a villain anthology?? Ha ha I hope it turns out good! And I’m excited for The Lying Game- I liked her last book so I’m hopeful for this one too. Looks like a good thriller.

  5. I’m glad you are enjoying your summer. I have an ARC of Wildling Sisters and hope to read that one soon. I also am curious about I Hate Everyone But You – definitely looking forward to your thoughts. I just got Beauty and the Beast as well last week….so cute! I adore Emma Watson.

  6. Daughter of the Burning City is one that I’ve had my eye on. It sounds so good, and I love that cover. I also have an ARC of Lucky In Love. I’m excited to check that one out because it will be my first Kasie West read. Unfortunately, a lot of the early reviews that I’ve seen for it have been pretty underwhelming. Hope you have a great week, and enjoy your new books!

  7. I’m excited to see what you think of Beauty and the Beast! I feel the same way about Daughter of the Burning City—seems like we’ve heard so very little about what it’s actually about, but the cover is gorgeous and the circus setting is always irresistible.
Glad you’re enjoying your summer, Natalie!

  8. Such a great haul! I Loved Because You Love to Hate Me – usually I’m not one for anthologies but this one was amazing. Sadly I didn’t love Lucky in Love, despite loving West’s other published books. It’s like you said – lottery winning books most likely aren’t for me. :/ But I still want to read her next books. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fantastic week, Natalie. =)
