The new books on my shelves, the links I loved, and my week in a nutshell.
Since I started this blog I’ve participated in Stacking the Shelves, which is a weekly feature hosted by Tyngas Reviews, and I’m going to continue linking to that meme. Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what’s going on in my life, so I’ve decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I’ve received. The Weekly Rewind will be about what’s going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I’ve added to my shelves, and the links I’ve enjoyed over the past week from other blogs and the interwebs in general.
My Life and Blog
Life: I’m posting this a few days early because July 3rd is my 9th wedding anniversary. My husband and I are taking a much needed vacation for the long weekend. We’re just going up to one of our favorite lakes for a few days to do some fishing and general relaxing. I didn’t want to skip another week of my weekend post–time just got away from me last weekend–so I figured a few days early was better than not at all.
So I do have some news. I have received a job offer from a school in FL. I’m so torn. On the one hand having a job offer is awesome and it’s a good school and the principal seems great, but on the other, my husband’s company is doing pretty well and he just cannot move right now, so we would have to live apart for at least a year which I’m not sure I could handle. While we’ve been married for 9 years, we’ve been together for 17. I’m not one of those women who is blasé about my husband and marriage. I adore him. He is amazing. I cannot imagine being apart from him for any real amount of time. I’m praying that I get something in PA. I’m beyond stressed trying to make this life changing decision, and am so glad to get a few days away to just be.
Blog: I haven’t been doing a whole lot of reading this past week or so. I’ve just been so stressed–and so busy! I did manage to finally post a review for On the Fence this week. I’m taking a couple books with me on vacation, but have mostly chosen a few books to re-read. Whenever I start to slump, I find that re-reading is the best way to snap me out of it. I know I’ve been the worst blogger buddy these past few weeks. I plan on doing some MAJOR blog hopping next week to get caught up on what all my friends have been up to!
- Monday: An early review for On the Fence. This was the perfect easy summer read. I really enjoyed it.
- Wednesday: I’m waiting on The Sin Eater’s Daughter. Have you heard of this one? It sounds amazing.
New Books: I have a few new books to share with you. So without further adieu. I hope you all have fabulous, safe, and fun-filled long weekends!
I’m excited for this Peter Pan, not re-telling exactly, continuation from the POV of Captain Hook. This is also an adult novel which is awesome.
While I’m weary of such and such-meets-such and such descriptions, I still fall for them every time. This is billed as X-Men meets Ocean’s Eleven which is shiver-inducing.
A girl who is often “missing time” begins to piece together her secret life. Sounds pretty cool.
This sounds like a pretty run-of-the-mill opposites attract romance.
What I Bought
A YA novel from the author who wrote Queen Bees and Wannabees (which is the book Mean Girls is based on). I actually read, and really liked, Queen Bees when it first came out, so I’m excited to read this.
I found this for 50 cents. 50 cents!
After her boyfriend proposes, a girl starts to think about her first love.
What I snagged from the library
I’m going to be honest, I don’t have a clue what this is about. I’ve seen the cover around and sometimes (weekly/daily) I order books from the library based solely on their covers.
I had an e-arc of this book, but never got around to it. It recently got released in PB, so I decided to give it a try. The time-traveling mystery aspect is intriguing.
Link Love and Upcoming Reviews
Will be back next week!
Well that’s it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, In My Mailbox, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers’ weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!
